Anime is indeed only one of many ways to market or promote the original series of books, including some other merchandise. One successful example is Amagi Brilliant Park produced by KyoAni, which managed to boost his novel became one of the best-selling book in Japan after the anime aired.
Gatoh Shoji Light novel sold more than 100,000 copies in just two weeks after the anime began airing. There is also the factor of the publication of the most recent volume 5 October 18th yesterday.
To commemorate his success, Kadokawa publish new promotional kit including spin-off novels and manga adaptation to all bookstores in Japan. In the novel, the park will be closed if they can not bring 100,000 visitors in two weeks (which in the anime turned into 250,000 visitors in 3 weeks). So yes fitting setting?
